Twins Mommy is over a year old! Wow! During the first year of my blog, I concentrated on two things:
- Building a strong blog foundation for traffic
- Generating income
I tried some strategy tips, failed in other ways, but at the end, I succeeded in growing my blog. Now that I’m in my second year of blogging on Twins Mommy, I know this year will be even better because of the work I did during the first year to build that trusted and strong blog.
To help you on your new blogging journey, here are 16 of the best Twins Mommy posts that will help you grow your blog traffic and blog income!
(P.S. they were also the most fun to write and share!)
There is no particular order, so enjoy!
1. How Do I Use Pinterest to Drive Traffic to My Mom Blog?
I love Pinterest! It’s the one social media platform that has totally helped me grow my traffic and invariably my income too!
Before I started Twins Mommy, I didn’t use Pinterest as a marketing tool. I had a business account and I was pinning my pins for my freelance writing business, but it was all manual and very infrequent.
But, once I started Twins Mommy about a year ago, I decided that I was going to put all my eggs in this social media platform….and I’m glad I did!
Pinterest is amazing for your blog’s growth.
2. How to Use Facebook to Bring Traffic to Your Site
For new bloggers, trying to get traffic to your new blog is maddening!
I’m a year in and still working hard on getting traffic because it takes time to grow your blog. You have to make blog posts, find images for your post, email your subscribers, network online and of course promote your post.
If you’re thinking about starting a blog, I have a handy step-by-step tutorial on starting your first blog!
While there are paid and effective ways to get traffic to your site, for new bloggers, this just isn’t an option. We have to rely on free generating traffic sources.
And one awesome place is soical media.
While I talk a lot about Pinterest for new bloggers, my other BFF is…dun…dun…dun….
Facebook.
But, why use Facebook?
3. 6 Critical Ways to Position Your Blog For Making Money
Is your blog stuck?
Stuck from moving and not growing.
For a lot of new bloggers, the thought quickly turns from wanting to get more pageviews to wanting to make their first $200 or more blogging.
But, you get stuck. You have no idea what you are doing and why it isn’t working at all. You’re spinning your wheels and getting frustrated at the thought of trying to make money blogging.
I started Twins Mommy a little over a year ago, and in that time, I grew my blog from 0 pageviews to over 35k pageviews, $0 to over $2000 and 0 email subscribers to over 4k email subscribers.
It’s still a progress and journey to monetize my blog, but I’ve realized there are six critical elements bloggers need to position their blog for making money.
Not every blog will make money. So, how can you increase your chances of monetizing your blog?
4. How I Made My First $200 Blogging
I started this blog a year ago, and within four months of starting, I was making money.
But, it wasn’t a lot (around $20). But that didn’t matter! I did it! I made an income with my blog, and I was happy with that. For the next couple of months, I made some money, but it never topped over $50.
I started to lose motivation and told myself I wasn’t even focusing on monetizing my blog. This gave me permission to “forget” about it and return to it later.
Does this sound like you?
You’ve decided to monetize your blog, and you hear a lot of ways to make an income, so you try them out but three months later and you only have enough for your Starbuck’s frappie.
I knew what I was doing wasn’t successful so I didn’t put a lot of time into it. It wasn’t until January 2017 hit that I sat down and made a solid and legit plan to make money with this blog.
And it worked! I made my first $200 a month after laying out my plan. So, what did I do? How did I go from making barely $50 to $200?
5. How Tailwind Skyrocketed My Traffic, List and Income
Have you been hearing a lot of talk about Tailwind lately?
What are those things bloggers are using and how come it’s helping them grow their traffic? What’s the big hype about them?
This is how I thought about it too before I started using Tailwind. See, before Twins Mommy I started Elna Cain.
I didn’t invest in any social media scheduling tools; just pinned when I wanted, tweeted here and there and posted on Facebook when I had time.
No big deal. My traffic slowly grew and in the two years of it being up, I had around 12k pageviews. But, when I started Twins Mommy, I wanted to try something completely different.
I wanted to connect with other mom bloggers and grow my blog and I knew I had to get on the Pinterest train to do this.
6. 11 Tailwind Tribes for Mom Bloggers to Explode Their Traffic
Who’s in love with Tailwind?
I certainly am. They are probably the #1 reason why my traffic has exploded for this new blog so early on. And just recently I discovered something even more awesome – Tailwind Tribes.
To me, Tailwind Tribes are like another Pinterest group, but it’s all in Tailwind and they are exclusive, meaning you have to be invited.
When you are a part of tribes you can share your pins and save other pins in your niche. So, just being in one tribe can boost your re-shares and traffic. And if you are 10, 20 or more? Phew! Hold on mama!
This is my re-shares, repins and my reach (that’s the important number) on just one Tailwind Tribe:
7. Growing My Blog and Income for 2017: How I Grew By 10k Pageviews In One Month
It’s a new year, and even though my blog is in its ninth month, I want to start a new traffic and income series. I’ll still relate back to my older traffic series and tell you all about my eighth month since I didn’t publish a report for that month.
Aaah! This month was amazing for blog growth…and I made money!! Stay tuned…
For those of you who are new, my name is Elna Cain, and I’m a blog & biz strategist and a mama to twins (they just turned 4-years-old!).
I started Twins Mommy back last year as a way to engage with a new audience of mommies.
It wasn’t until April that I really wanted to grow this blog.
I wanted to start a new blog and grow my traffic, list, and income and share my story because I know a lot of you are struggling to grow your blog too!
Blogging just for the sake of blogging isn’t going to earn you income. Turning your blog into a biz and then monetizing your blog, well that’s where all the money is. And I’m chronicling that journey with you!

13. How to Start Freelance Blogging (When You Don’t Know How to Blog)
Do you know that one of the best work at home gigs you can have as a stay-at-home mom is freelance blogging?
I’m a stay-at-home mom with twins and I’m a part-time freelance writer, but all I really do is get paid to blog. I average around $300 per post and I have several high-paying clients.
How did I stumble into freelance blogging and can any stay-at-home mom succeed?
The answer my friend, is yes you can! And what’s great about this freelance service you can offer, is that you don’t need a journalism degree or experience blogging.

Okay, if you’re a stay-at-home mama or working mom that just wants to earn some extra cash on the side, let me give you the low down about freelance blogging for complete beginners.
14. How Pinterest Makes Me Money
Ever since I’ve been putting my focus on Pinterest to grow my blogand traffic, I never thought in a million years I’d be making money from it!
Okay, I have a confession to make. It might not be a confession, but, I have another site (gasp!). It’s my freelance writing site where I talk about all things related to freelance writing.

15. How to Triple Your Affiliate Earning on Your New Blog
Raise your hand if you’re a newbie blogger and you’re doing some affiliate marketing?
For me, I didn’t start promoting products or services until after a year of doing freelance writing. My focus online – at the time – was to build my freelance writing business so that I can earn a living from it.
If you have no clue what affiliate marketing is that’s okay! I had no clue what it was at the time I started my biz.
If you’re new to blogging, affiliate marketing basically is promoting other people’s products or services and earning a commission from it.
And it doesn’t have to be other people’s things; it can be business’ products. For example, many new bloggers join affiliate programs for hosting companies like Bluehost or SiteGround.
Typically, you become an affiliate because you fell in L-O-V-E with the product or service.

TwinsMommy is a new site for me. I have another blog where I’ve built a good following, but I wanted to create TwinsMommy so that I can learn how to make money blogging – and also teach others.
I’m a freelance writer so I never went the whole affiliate marketing/ads/sponsored posts route. I figured I can give that a go on this blog. You can follow my blog growth if you want!
