How Much is 6 Figures? (Six Figure Salary, 8,9,10 Figures)

How much money is 6 figures?

When we read about successful mom bloggers, it’s almost always: “I make six figures from my blog!”

And yea, I did that too!

But what does 6 figures or six figures or even having 8,9 or 10 figures really mean?

Does it mean that someone is living the good life with a massive home, a fancy car, and extra cash floating around?

Or does it mean they have enough money to afford their home without living paycheck to paycheck?

It can definitely be impressive to say that you earn 6 figures (or even 5 figures and 7 figures) from blogging, but that term means nothing if you don’t understand how much is six figures in the first place.

So if you are having a hard time wrapping your head around what a 6 figure income is, let’s take a look at how much money is 6 figures, as well as how you can increase the income you generate from your blog.

Let’s get started!

How Much is a Figure?

Simply put, a figure is a number or digit.

For instance, the number 1 is one figure and the number 16 is two figures.

Pretty easy, right?

So it goes without saying that the more numbers you add, the higher the figure is!

But, how much is 6 figures in money?

When mom bloggers talk about how many figures they make from their blog, they are referring to how much their income is.

To give you a better understanding of this, let’s look at how much is six figures.

How Much Money is 6 Figures?

So, how much is 6 figures a year, then?

When it comes to money, 6 figures is any amount between $100,000 and $999,999.

Wait – 6 figures is how much???

That’s right. So when bloggers talk about making a 6 figure income, they are earning between those two amounts!

However, it’s important to note that the value of 6 figures to one person is different than the value of 6 figures to someone else.

If you have a working partner, $100,000 per year may not seem like a lot of money.

But, if you’re a single mom making money from a blog, this could be a lot of money!

Your lifestyle will determine how much money is 6 figures as well. Some people live more lavishly than others, and that’s perfectly okay, while others are more frugal.

Overall, I would definitely consider a 6 figure income from a blog a huge success and I’m fortunate to have this and more.

As a six figure blogger I don’t live a lavish lifestyle. This income has to support a family of four so we have one vehicle and choose to use our income for travel and making sure my twins enjoy extra curricular activities like riding the snow mobile, horse back riding and hockey.

How Much is 6 Figures Monthly?

Let’s look at how much is 6 figures a month for a blogger.

Keep in mind that blogging is oftentimes not a stable income and what you make can vary from month to month.

If you do the math, a $100,000 per year income works out to $8,333 per month.

If you break how much is 6 figures a day into into hours, you would have to earn at least $48 per hour and for how much is 6 figures weekly that amounts to: about 40 hours a week.

Again, how you earn income from a blog can vary depending on your strategy.

For instance, you could earn quite a bit of money from passive income such as selling digital products like courses which would not take much time (if any) out of your week.

This is how I make the majority of my six figure income (via courses).

Snapshot of Course (digital product) revenue

This would leave you more time to work on promoting affiliate products and making money that way.

So when it comes to earning a 6 figure income, you don’t necessarily have to put in 40 hours a week.

This just gives you an idea of how you can break $100,000 into workable hours.

How Much is 4 Figures?

Even though we are talking about how much is six figures, it’s important to also look at what 4 figures mean as well.

A 4 figure income can range from $1,000 to $9,999.

For those trying to earn a full-time income from their blog, this should be your monthly range of income.

However, if your blog is a side hustle or hobby, earning this per year is really good as well!

How Much is 7 Figures?

By logic, I’m sure you can figure out how much is 7 figures, but it’s also worth noting here.

When it comes to the 7 figures meaning, simply add another digit to 6 figures.

Yes, I’m talking millions!

A 7 figure income ranges from $1,000,000 to $9,999,999.

It may seem unlikely you will make this kind of money from your blog, but anything is possible!

Just keep in mind that in order to make a million dollars per year, you would have to bring in around $83,333,333 per month from your blog.

Income Breakdown of a 6 Figure Blog

Although I do post income reports for my blog, I never really get into the dollars and cents of what I make.

Instead, I focus on how I’ve grown my blog and my goals for the next month.

I also work on creating a six figure blogging schedule so I’m always productive (although that isn’t always the case).

But that doesn’t mean we can’t look at how to make 6 figures from your blog!

Before we do, check out all my seven income streams as a blogger that helped me make a six figure salary.

Here are some ways successful bloggers are earning six figures (and more!) from their blogs.

1. Ad Income

For most mom bloggers, a good portion of their income is earned from ads.

This includes things like banner ads you can include in your blog posts that will earn you money if your readers click on them.

Just try not to stuff your blog full of ads in an effort to make money – this may actually turn people away!

Many ad networks, such as Google Adsense, will tailor the ads to your reader so they’re not bombarded with advertisements for products they have no interest in.

I personally use ads (from Mediavine) for this site and for my other lifestyle blogs.

2. Affiliate Sales

Another great way to earn a 6 figure income is to sign up for affiliate programs.

This means that you will promote someone else’s product and service on your blog using a special link.

If a reader clicks the links and buys the product, you earn a commission!

However, different affiliate programs have different rules, so you have to be careful how you promote the product.

For instance, Amazon does not allow you to include affiliate links in emails.

So you’ll have to spend some time writing content that promotes these products, such as focusing a blog post on top products or one in particular that you love to use.

3. Personal Products

Many mom bloggers also sell their own products on their blog, whether this is a physical product or a service such as coaching.

You can publish and sell an eBook on your blog or offer members-only content.

I’ve seen mom bloggers find great success by selling handmade crafts!

If you are considering selling a personal product on your blog, think about how much time it will take to create or administer.

If you’re into digital products, I like to host my products on Teachable. It’s a platform to house all your online products like printables, eBooks, coursers or memberships.

Again, passive income projects such as courses are a great way to go but if you want to offer coaching services, you have to make sure you can fit this into your schedule.

4. Sponsored Posts

Writing sponsored posts probably isn’t going to get you a 6 figure income but it is a great way to increase your monthly earnings while running a mom blog.

Once you get your blog going and gain traffic, companies may approach you and pay you to write content to plug their product.

The bigger the brand, the more money you can make!

Don’t Forget About Blog Expenses!

Of course, as you’re hustling to make your 6 figure income, don’t forget about the costs associated with running a blog.

Fortunately, it doesn’t have to cost thousands of dollars!

All you really need is a good hosting service such as BlueHost and a domain name.

As your blog grows, along with your income, you may need to start paying for email services such as ConvertKit instead of relying on their free accounts (which only allow you up to a certain amount of subscribers).

Other expenses you may have to consider down the road are affiliate payouts (if you offer an affiliate program for your product), Facebook ads or paid traffic, and outsourcing jobs such as Pinterest management and content writing if you can’t keep up with it yourself.
