Online Ways to Make Money as a Stay-at-Home Mom

1. Blogging!

I couldn’t start this list without my #1 passion and #1 way I make money as a stay at home mom.

Blogging literally changed my life! I know that sounds cliche, but I started my blog when my twins were 15 months old and now my twins are in 3rd grade and I’m making a healthy six figure income.

If you want to start a blog, check out my tutorial (there’s also a video to walk you step-by-step) and make sure to sign up to my newsletter too for more tips!

1. Freelance Writing

Before I started Twins Mommy, I made my fist $1k online as a stay-at-home mom with freelance blogging.

The first important step in becoming a freelance blogger is to hone in on your niche – or your area of expertise.

You can then market your services to businesses in this industry!

You should then create a blog to highlight your skills and present a portfolio of your work.

Then, pitch your services to businesses that could use a writer for their website or apply to postings on job boards.

To get you started, here are sites that pay moms $100 to write!

2. Ghostwriting

When it comes to making money at home, you can also be a ghostwriter!

This can also involve writing blog posts but also eBooks, newsletters, and more.

Ghostwriting means that the person you are writing for takes credit for the content.

So if you write a book for them, they publish it under their name.

Decide what type of writing you enjoy and market your services!

3. Copywriting

Copywriting is a more specific type of freelance blogging that involves writing for businesses in a way that is conversational and persuasive.

Businesses will hire copywriters to create blog posts and other forms of online content such as landing pages and sales pages to convince readers to purchase a product or service.

Personally, I love copywriting!

It’s fun and challenging but can also make for a good stay-at-home mom income.

4. Editing/Proofreading

If you have a keen eye for spelling and grammar, you can make money at home by editing and proofreading.

Some businesses will create their own content and then hire someone to fine-tune it.

This also applies to authors and anyone else who produces written content as well as businesses who present marketing content such as flyers and social media posts.

You can also reach out to students who need help with their essays!

The possibilities are endless so this is definitely a great idea for stay-at-home moms to make money.

5. Website Design and Development

For those who have a knack for coding and web design, you can get paid to stay home and develop websites.

This involves coding websites to create eye-catching and functional designs as well as optimizing WordPress and installing plugins.

If you love playing around with web design, start a portfolio of your work and pitch your services to potential clients.

6. Website Management

Not only do websites have to be designed, but they also need to be maintained.

9. Virtual Assistant

A virtual assistant does a variety of online tasks such as blog management, social media management, writing, graphic design, and more.

Basically, they are a personal assistant who helps businesses and individuals with whatever they need to be done.

Pick a specialty, such as being a Pinterest VA, and build your skills and clientele from there.

10. Bookkeeping

Are you handy with numbers and finances as a stay at home mom?

Online bookkeeping is growing in popularity and many businesses are reaching out to individuals who can complete this task at home.

Amazon has a program called FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) that is similar to dropshipping except you invest in your merchandise and store it in Amazon’s warehouse.

Courses often involve a combination of workbooks and videos to help teach students something.

That something can range from how to build a website to cooking classes – the possibilities are endless!

In the wake of the 2020 pandemic, many customer service companies sent their employees packing – to work from home!
