Festive Christmas Decor to Brighten Up Your Day

I don’t know about you, but when Christmas rolls around, I want to decorate EVERYTHING!

From the living room and kitchen to the front porch, I love adding little touches of Christmas throughout my home.

And this year, I’m setting my sights on my office!

As a work-at-home mom with busy teen twins, multiple blogs to manage, and freelance writing clients to keep happy, I spend A LOT of time in my office.

Between writing blog posts, answering emails, and working on client projects, it’s pretty much where you’ll find me during the day (when I’m not driving my twins to their sports practices!).

So, why not make it a little more festive?

And you don’t have to go overboard, either! I still need room for my laptop, notebooks, and all the things I use to run my business.

Since my office is actually my home office, I can have a little more fun with decorating and make it as cozy and Christmassy as I want!

If you’re also looking to bring some holiday cheer into your workspace, I’ve rounded up some adorable office Christmas decor ideas that are festive, cozy, and easy to recreate!

What You Need to Decorate Your Office for Christmas

Before you start decorating your office for Christmas, it’s a good idea to grab a few supplies! You might already have some leftover Christmas decorations from last year that you can use, but I always love picking up a few new things to make my space feel extra festive.

And if you love a good DIY Christmas project like I do, you can use some of these supplies to make your own decorations instead of buying everything already made.

Here are some things to have on hand for these office Christmas decor ideas:

  • Wooden beaded garland: Perfect for draping around a mini Christmas tree, decorating shelves, or making a cute DIY Christmas garland. And who doesn’t like wooden Christmas crafts?
  • Mini Christmas trees: A small tabletop tree is perfect for your desk, bookshelf, or a little corner of your office.
  • Battery-operated fairy lights: These are great for adding a cozy Christmas glow without having cords running everywhere.
  • Mini Christmas ornaments: Pick up some small ornaments in your favorite Christmas colors to decorate tiny trees, garlands, or DIY displays.
  • Christmas ribbon and bows: Velvet, satin, or plaid ribbon can make even the simplest decorations look festive.
  • Mini wreaths: These look adorable hanging on office doors, cabinets, or even above your desk.
  • Faux pine garland: Use it to decorate shelves, window frames, or the top of a bookcase.
  • Command hooks: These are a must if you want to hang decorations without putting holes in your walls.
  • Small Christmas figurines: Think little reindeer, ceramic Christmas trees, gingerbread houses, or mini Santa decorations.
  • Glass jars and vases: Fill these with ornaments, fairy lights, pinecones, or faux greenery for an easy DIY decoration.
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks: If you’re planning to make your own Christmas decorations, you’ll definitely want these handy.
  • Faux snow and bottle brush trees: These are perfect for making cute little Christmas village displays on your desk or shelves.
  • Christmas-themed mugs: A festive mug can double as a decoration or hold your favorite pens and pencils.
  • Wrapping paper: Use leftover Christmas wrapping paper to decorate storage boxes, create DIY wall art, or wrap empty boxes for a festive display.
  • Holiday Scented Candles: who doesn’t like the smell of Christmas? My daughter loves the sweet hot choolate types but I like the forest, apple fresh scents!

You definitely don’t need to buy everything on this list! I like starting with a few decorations I already own and then adding one or two new things to pull the whole look together.

After all, the goal is to make your office feel cozy and festive without taking over the space you actually need to work!

Cute TikTok-Inspired Office Christmas Decor Ideas

Okay, now for the fun part!

If you’ve spent any time scrolling TikTok or Pinterest during the holidays, you’ve probably seen some of the cutest Christmas decorating ideas!

And the best part? You don’t need a huge office or a big decorating budget to recreate these looks.

If you love the cozy Christmas aesthetic, traditional red and green decorations, or a more neutral holiday look, these office Christmas decor ideas will help make your workspace feel festive without getting in the way of your work.

1. Drape Wooden Beaded Garland Around Your Office

I absolutely love the look of wooden beaded garland for Christmas! It has that cozy farmhouse feel, but you can also make it look modern depending on how you style it.

Grab a strand of natural wooden beads and drape it across your office shelves, around a mini Christmas tree, or along the top of your desk hutch.

For a cute DIY project, tie little velvet bows between some of the beads. You can use burgundy, forest green, or even pink ribbon if you want something a little different.

Another idea is to mix your beaded garland with faux pine greenery and tiny fairy lights. It makes such a pretty Christmas display without looking too cluttered.

2. Add Holiday-Scented Candles to Your Desk

There’s just something about the smell of Christmas that makes everything feel cozy!

And since I spend so much time writing in my office, I love the idea of having a Christmas-scented candle nearby.

Think warm vanilla, gingerbread, cinnamon, peppermint, or fresh Christmas tree scents.

Choose a candle in a pretty glass jar that matches your Christmas decorations. You can even place it on a small wooden tray with a mini bottle brush tree and a few pinecones.

If you don’t want an open flame near your laptop and paperwork, try a flameless candle or a candle warmer instead.

3. Make DIY Paper Snowflakes for Your Office Window

Remember making paper snowflakes when you were a kid? Well, they’re back, and I love how pretty they can look when you make them oversized!

One cute TikTok-inspired idea is to make large white paper snowflakes and hang them at different heights in front of your office window.

You can use regular white paper for simple snowflakes or white paper bags to create those big 3D snowflake stars.

For the paper bag version, glue several bags together, cut a design along the edges, and open them up to create a giant snowflake.

Hang three or four in different sizes using clear fishing line for a pretty winter wonderland look.

I especially love this idea because it’s inexpensive, easy to make, and doesn’t take up any desk space!

4. Create a Mini Christmas Village on Your Bookshelf

Those adorable little Christmas villages aren’t just for fireplace mantels!

If you have a bookshelf or floating shelves in your office, turn one shelf into a tiny Christmas village.

Use small ceramic houses, bottle brush trees, and battery-operated fairy lights to create a cozy little neighborhood.

I love the all-white ceramic houses because they look so pretty when they’re lit up at night.

You can also add a little faux snow underneath everything to make it look like a snowy Christmas town.

5. Tie Velvet Christmas Bows on Everything

One Christmas decorating trend I keep coming back to is bows!

They’re such an easy way to make everyday things look festive, and you don’t need to spend much money.

Buy a roll of velvet ribbon in burgundy, red, forest green, or soft pink and make a bunch of little bows.

Tie them onto your office cabinet handles, mini Christmas tree, desk lamp, storage baskets, or even the back of your office chair.

You can also attach several bows to a strand of greenery for a cute DIY Christmas garland.

Just keep the bows away from hot light bulbs and anything that needs ventilation.

6. Decorate a Mini Christmas Tree With a Color Theme

Of course, I couldn’t decorate my office for Christmas without adding a mini Christmas tree!

But instead of using a bunch of random ornaments, try giving your tree a specific color theme.

A pink and champagne Christmas tree would look adorable in a feminine office, while burgundy and gold would give your workspace a cozy, traditional Christmas feel.

You can even go with a gingerbread theme and decorate your tree with tiny gingerbread ornaments, candy canes, and brown velvet ribbon.

Place your tree on a side table, filing cabinet, or shelf so you still have plenty of room to work.

7. Make a DIY Christmas Bow Garland

If you love the bow trend but don’t want to tie bows all over your office, make a Christmas bow garland instead!

All you need is ribbon, twine, and scissors.

Cut several pieces of ribbon and tie them into bows. Then attach each bow to a long piece of twine, leaving a few inches between them.

You can use all one color or mix red, pink, cream, and burgundy for a more playful look.

Hang your finished garland across a window, along a shelf, or above your desk.

This would look especially cute with little fairy lights woven between the bows.

8. Turn Your Desk Into a Gingerbread Christmas Theme

How cute would a gingerbread-themed office be?

I’ve seen so many adorable gingerbread Christmas decorations, and I think this would be such a fun theme for a workspace.

Start with a small gingerbread house decoration and add mini gingerbread ornaments, candy cane decorations, and a gingerbread-themed mug.

You could even make a little gingerbread display on a tiered tray if you have enough space.

Stick with warm browns, cream, white, and touches of red to pull everything together.

And if you love DIY projects, make your own gingerbread ornaments using air-dry clay and brown acrylic paint!

9. Hang Christmas Stockings From Your Office Shelves

Who says stockings are only for the fireplace?

Mini Christmas stockings look adorable hanging from office shelves, bookcases, or cabinet knobs.

Choose small knitted stockings in neutral colors for a cozy look, or go with traditional red and white ones.

You can even personalize them with little wooden name tags or festive initials.

If you have a long floating shelf, hang three or four mini stockings underneath it and add a strand of faux pine garland along the top.

10. Create a Cozy Christmas Coffee Station

As someone who works from home and loves her coffee, this is one decorating idea I can definitely get behind!

If you have a little side table or extra shelf space in your office, turn it into a mini Christmas coffee station.

Add a festive tray with Christmas mugs, a small container of candy canes, hot chocolate packets, and a few holiday decorations.

You could even put a mini tabletop Christmas tree beside your coffee supplies.

And if you don’t have room for an actual coffee maker in your office, just create a cute little Christmas mug display instead.

11. Make a Christmas Gallery Wall With Printable Art

If your office walls are looking a little bare, why not switch out some of your regular artwork for Christmas prints?

I love the idea of using vintage-inspired Christmas artwork, winter landscapes, or cute holiday sayings.

You can find inexpensive digital prints and put them into frames you already own.

For a cohesive look, stick with two or three Christmas colors and mix different-sized frames.

Another cute idea is to use a small clipboard or wooden picture ledge so you can easily swap out the artwork when Christmas is over.

12. Decorate Your Office Chair With a Christmas Bow

This might be one of the easiest Christmas decorating ideas on the list!

Instead of buying a bunch of decorations, tie one oversized velvet bow to the back of your office chair.

A large burgundy or red bow looks especially pretty against a white or cream chair.

You can also drape a cozy Christmas throw blanket over the back of your chair to make your office feel a little warmer and more festive.

Just make sure the bow doesn’t get caught in the wheels or interfere with how your chair moves.

13. Create a Christmas Desk Tray Display

Sometimes all you need is one little festive corner to make your entire office feel Christmassy.

Grab a small wooden or gold tray and arrange a few Christmas decorations on it.

Try adding a mini ceramic tree, a flameless candle, a tiny reindeer, and a little sprig of faux greenery.

The trick is to choose decorations in different heights so your display looks intentional instead of crowded.

I love this idea because when I need more desk space for client work, I can simply move the entire tray out of the way!

14. Hang a Mini Christmas Wreath Above Your Desk

A Christmas wreath can make such a pretty statement in an office, especially if you have a blank wall above your desk.

Instead of using a large traditional wreath, try a smaller one made with faux pine, eucalyptus, or cedar branches.

Add a velvet ribbon bow at the bottom or top for that cute Christmas aesthetic.

You can also make your own wreath using a small embroidery hoop, faux greenery, floral wire, and ribbon.

For a more minimalist look, decorate only one side of the hoop and leave the rest of the wood showing.

15. Add a Christmas-Themed Computer Wallpaper

This one is so simple, but it can really help pull your office Christmas decor together!

Switch your regular desktop wallpaper to a cozy Christmas scene, a winter landscape, or a cute holiday pattern.

You could choose a pink Christmas wallpaper, a gingerbread theme, or a snowy cabin scene.

Then match a few of your desk decorations to the colors on your screen.

I love little decorating ideas like this because they don’t cost anything, and you can change them whenever you want!
